The Boreal Forest
Observatory is a research and teaching platform located on the
University of Alaska Anchorage Campus. The observatory's aim is to
quantify the abiotic and biotic processes of a
forest in an urban setting and to provide real-time data for use by
students, researchers, the public and resource managers. The BFO is a
collaborative endeavor lead by the Environment and
Natural Resources Institute (Climate Center and Ecosystems Studies
Group) and the Biology Department. The project was initiated with a
competitive grant received from the UAA Chancellor's Enhancement Fund,
awarded in 2005. |
